Alumni help make holidays festive for foster children

December 14, 2005--More than 150 foster children and their families traversed snowy roads to attend the 18th Annual Foster Children's Holiday Party on December 4, a fun-filled afternoon of arts, crafts, food and gifts hosted by the Boston Tufts Alliance.

The party is an ongoing tradition of community service that brings holiday cheer to children and their families in the neighborhoods surrounding Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus.

Many students and alumni donated their time and presents to make this a special event. Several hundred toys and books were donated and gift-wrapped by dedicated volunteers.

Volunteer party coordinator, Dan Kaplan, A96, summed up his feelings about the annual event saying, "Our work on this event is a labor of love and the appreciation shown by the families is its own reward."

The continued success of this annual event has made it an attractive charitable opportunity for local businesses, several of whom donated food and beverages to the party.

If you would like to learn more about becoming involved with this event next year, please share an email with your contact information to Jonathan Burton, in the Office of Alumni Relations, at jonathan.burton@tufts.edu
