November 14, 2005 -- Although heavy rain, some might call it a monsoon, turned J-Field into a Jumbo mud pit, Tailgaters' Village was packed with alumni whose spirits could not be dampened. The Tufts University Alumni Association provided the Jumbo Tent for alumni, parents, and students to mix and mingle in relative dryness, though there were reports that a river did indeed run through it.
Traditional New England fare was served, including clam chowder and apple pie. Kids' corner gave little Jumbos the opportunity to decorate Halloween pumpkins and trick or treat bags.
Representatives of the TUAA toured the Village to judge the Best of Tailgate competition. Congratulations to the Delaney-Winn family for their award-winning display, which brought both sophistication and whimsy to the Woodstock-like conditions that defined Tailgaters' Village this year.
Tufts athletics provided great competition for the Trinity Bantams; men's and women's soccer and field hockey were victorious. The football team fought hard and made us proud despite the last minute touchdown that clinched the win for the Bantams.
This year, Parents' Weekend and Homecoming were held concurrently to give parents the opportunity to experience Homecoming festivities, and allow alumni a chance to take advantage of the educational components of Parents' Weekend.
