July 5, 2006--A group of Tufts alumni, including several dads, got the chance to spend a portion of Father's Day Weekend enjoying a pleasant summer night at Gillette Stadium with their families and extended family of Tufts friends. The June 17 Revolution soccer game alumni outing, co-sponsored by the Boston and Rhode Island Tufts Alliances, turned out to be a well-timed activity during a special weekend for families and coincided with a peak in soccer interest during the quadrennial World Cup matches.
Tufts sophomore, Jillian Russo, A09, took in the game and got an advance preview to what alumni activities are all about. "It was great for me as a student to see so many alumni keeping the connection alive and having fun together! I can see my own Tufts friends wanting to connect with each other at these kinds of events after we graduate too."
Even with some Revolution starters absent from the field because of World Cup competition, Boston-area alumni and friends and Revolution fans were treated to a stirring match against rival D.C. United which ultimately ended in a draw. The New England Revolution continued its trend of late-game comebacks with Andy Dorman's goal in the 86th minute to tie conference-leading D.C. United 1-1 in front of a season-high 16,209 fans Saturday night, some 53 of which were roaring Tufts alumni.
Come off the sidelines and play for our team!
The Boston Tufts Alliance plans a full spectrum of activities for alumni of Boston throughout the year. If you have an idea for a future alumni event or interest in organizing a program, new volunteer energy is always welcome.
