Above par support for Friends of Tufts Hockey

Friends of Tufts Hockey golf tournament winners (l-to-r), Bill Eastwood, A65, A02P, Gary Caldwell, Janet Silva, and Jim Aulenbach.

June 26, 2006--Despite a streak of rainy days, the Friends of Tufts Hockey was able to sneak in their 13th annual golf tournament on Friday, June 9 at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, MA.  Twenty teams in total made for a full crowd on a very soggy course. Still, most will agree that a bad day on the golf course, beats just about anything else and Jumbo spirit is not easily submerged.

Organized by Ben Sands, E54, with help from Kevin Mahoney, A01P, the tournament welcomed eighty individuals from the Tufts community including current and former hockey players, parents of players, members of the athletic department and other alumni and staff.

When all scores were tallied, the winning foursome, finishing at 17 under par, was comprised of Gary Caldwell, Bill Eastwood, A65, A02P, Janet Silva, and Jim Aulenbach.

Second place was awarded to the team which included Nick Mitropoulos, Mark Doughtie, Mike Daly, A95, and incoming Tufts freshman, Alex Mitropolous, A10. There was a two-way tie for third place.

The golf tournament is always open to anyone looking for a day of recreational fun, and an interest in supporting the Tufts hockey program. Next year's tournament is set for Friday, June 15, 2007 - so mark your calendars today.
