October 14, 2006 -- Homecoming welcomed back throngs of alumni on September 30 for a celebration blessed by sunshine and Jumbo triumphs over the Bates Bobcats in every sport. Volunteers with the Tufts University Alumni Association (TUAA) were up early to greet alumni under the Jumbo Tent, where guests were treated to ample refreshments: more than 900 mini sandwiches, 1200 bowls of New England chowder, 20 dozen cookies, 550 bags of snacks, and 580 bottles of water.

On J-Field, alumni pulled out the stops for the Best of Tailgating Competition. Congratulations to Diane Casey, J83, A07P, A09P and John Casey, A80, AG83, A07P, A09P (Tufts’ very own baseball coach) for taking the award this year!

As always, Kids Corner was a popular activity for future Jumbos who enjoyed constructing Trick-o-Treat bags, decorating pumpkins, and face painting. 

The best news of the day came from the playing fields. Tufts’ athletic teams swept their competition, beating the Bates Bobcats in all events.  Visit the athletics website for complete details.
