Call for Nominations: Alumni Trustee and Alumni Council

August 21, 2007--Tufts University Alumni Association (TUAA) is seeking nominations for two Alumni Trustee positions as well as nominations for Alumni Council Representatives. Elections will be held in the spring via an online ballot or a paper ballot, which will be included in the winter issue of Tufts Magazine.

Alumni Trustees
Tufts alumni have the privilege and the responsibility of electing 10 members of the alumni body (two each year, to serve 5-year terms) as Alumni Trustees to serve on the Tufts University Board of Trustees.

Alumni Trustees constitute 25% of the Board of Trustees and enjoy the same rights, responsibilities, status and influence as Charter Trustees, who are appointed directly by the Board. Trustees’ decisions include faculty promotions and tenure, academic affairs, tuition and budgets, diversity, campus services, new buildings, and more. An Alumni Trustee may be a graduate of any school within the university and serves Tufts as a whole.

Alumni Council
Council members represent the alumni body in the governance of the TUAA. They accomplish the work of the council through service on committees that address issues such as career networking, alumni weekend, continuing education, alumni regional activities and the nomination of highly qualified candidates to the university’s Board of Trustees and the Alumni Council. Nominees for the Council must be a graduate of the schools whose positions are being filled in a particular year. They should possess a willingness to serve Tufts as a whole and have a record of consistent service and financial support to the university.

Nominations for Alumni Trustees and Council members are due by October 12, 2007. All nominations received after these dates will be deferred to the next election.
