Arts, Sciences & Engineering Class of 2007
elects peer alumni leaders
May 14, 2007--The Tufts University Alumni Association (TUAA) welcomes Lisa Berger, Angela Lee, Harish Perkari, and Andrew Savini as the elected Class of 2007 Transitional Members to the Tufts Alumni Council. The four were selected by their classmates among a very competitive field of 18 candidates seeking the volunteer opportunity. Since 2000, the Tufts Alumni Council has made available four positions for graduating seniors in effort to expand the role of young alumni leadership.
The newly elected members are representative of the cultural and geographical diversity of the student body. Andrew Savini, from Kahuku, Hawaii has been a student fellow with the Institute for Global Leadership. Also a singer with the Beelzebubs, Savini organized Bubs concerts at Tufts alumni events in Athens, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, and elsewhere.
Angela Lee and Lisa Berger were both recognized by TUAA this spring with Senior Awards for their outstanding campus leadership. Angela reflects, “Tufts is a special place. Four years on the Hill have created and cemented life-long friendships, cultivated varied interests and passions and provided a solid social and educational base for all future endeavors. As graduation looms near, it is ever more important to remember the unique attributes of our university and to work to extend the solid base that we've built.”
Berger served as Senior Class President and looks forward to building on the program planning and relationship building that came so naturally in student leadership roles. “Since the job of the Alumni Council members is designed especially for spirit and allegiance to our alma mater, I am already seasoned for the task!”
Harish Perkari served as Vice President for the TCU Senate and would like to organize social programming and networking events in locations where young alumni will be working and living. “Now that we are all going our separate ways, I'd like to make sure that our class stays connected no matter what corner of the globe we're in.”
The four were officially inducted into the Alumni Council at TUAA’s spring meeting held on April 29 with a welcome from Alumni Association President, Sunny Breed, J66, G72.
