Graduates to be honored for distinguished service
February 14, 2008 - The Tufts University Alumni Association this year bestows seven Distinguished Service Awards, including its Young Alumni Achievement Award, to alumni who have demonstrated outstanding service to Tufts, their professions, or their communities.

Lawrence K. Altman, M.D., M62. Medical correspondent for The New York Times and a columnist for Science Times. An infectious disease specialist, he is a world-renowned and award winning medical writer making contributions to public health and medical education around the world.
Bruce M. Male, A63, A94P. Chair of the International Board of Overseers and a former member of the Board of Trustees. Former founder, chair, and CEO of TravCorps Corporation of Malden, Massachusetts.
Elizabeth H. Prodromou, Ph.D., J81, F83. Associate director of the Institute on Culture, Regional and World Affairs and assistant director of International Affairs at Boston University. She also is commissioner on the U.S. Commission for International Religious Freedom.
John C. Richmond, M.D., M76. Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Tufts University School of Medicine, and an adjunct professor of biochemical engineering at Tufts.
Diane M. Wilcox, J82. Residential counselor for Communities for People in Somerville, Massachusetts, and an independent living advisor for the Threshold Program of Lesley University.
Vangel R. Zissi, D.M.D., D62, DG67, A02P.Has been devoted to Tufts for more than 45 years. He is a clinical professor of endodontics and director of continuing education at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He also recently finished a term as the president of the International College of Dentists, USA Section.
Winner of the Fifth Young Alumni Achievement Award:
Eric J. Brum, D.V.M, A99, V04. Leads a Tufts team in Indonesia as the chief technical advisor on a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization avian influenza control project.
