Get Involved
Below are some of the ways you can get involved with
your Alumni Association. New volunteers are always welcome. For
more information follow the links or contact Jessica Johnson Sherwood, TUAA Liaison, at j.johnson@tufts.edu
or 617-627-5786.
TUAA Committees
There are sixteen alumni committees
working on various initiatives important to the Tufts community
that could benefit from the advice and service of Tufts alumni.
Depending on your interests and talents, there's a committee that's
right for you.
TUAA Chapters
Be an active member of the alumni
chapter in your area. Attend or help plan social, cultural,
and educational events and connect with local alumni. For more information,
follow the link above, or contact Gretchen Dobson, in the office
of Alumni Relations at gretchen.dobson@tufts.edu.
Shared Interest Groups Become an active member of the shared interest alumni group of your choice, or start one of your own with fellow alumni involved in the same profession, major, or cultural group. Attend or help plan social, cultural, and educational events and connect with like-minded alumni. For more information, follow the link above, or contact Jonathan Kaplan, in the office of Alumni Relations at jonathan.kaplan@tufts.edu.
Alumni Elections
Your vote counts. Help shape the future of the University by
voting in elections for Alumni Council members and Alumni Trustees,
held in the spring. Ballots are found in Tufts Magazine, or you can vote online via the online
community. You'll need to be a registered community member to
vote online.
From Backpack to Briefcase
Help seniors get ready for the real world and build connections
among alumni while you're at it. Co-hosted by the Senior Leadership
Corps, Career Services and Alumni Relations, From Backpack to Briefcase
depends on alumni volunteers to be part of themed panel disucssions
or to mix and mingle with students in the crowd offering one-on-one
mentoring. Past event panels have included how to relocate to a
new city, budgeting, and on the job etiquette. For more information
contact Jonathan Burton in the Office of Alumni Relations at Jonathan.Burton@tufts.edu
or 617-627-3964.
Tufts Career Network
Share your professional experience and knowledge with other alumni.
Join the Tufts Career Network and serve as a career networking advisor,
mentor, or internship sponsor. Find out more on the Career
Services website or contact Leslie Warner in Career Services

Distinguished Service Awards
Distinguished Service Awards are given annually by TUAA's Alumni
Council to deserving graduates and members of the Tufts community
for service to Tufts, their community or profession. The Council's
Awards Committee selects several outstanding alumni each year. Award
winners are feted at a gala affair in the spring. Help Tufts recognize
the accomplishements of Tufts alumni and friends by submitting a
nomination. All alumni are eligible to submit nominations for a
DSA. Nominations are accepted in the fall of every year. Return
your nomination form by November 16.
Contact Jessica Johnson Sherwood at j.johnson@tufts.edu
for more information.
Senior Awards
Each year TUAA recognizes the achievements of a number of graduating
seniors who have excelled academically and who have demonstrated
outstanding leadership in campus and/or community activities. If
you know any outstanding senior students, please nominate them for
a Senior Award. Award recipients, their families and nominators
will attend an Awards Banquet in the spring. Nominations are accepted
every winter through early February. Please return your nomination
form to Jessica Johnson Sherwood, 80 George Street, Suite 100-3, Medford,
MA 02155, or fax it to Jessica at 617-627-3938.
