Boston Tufts Alliance - Business Forum Series: The Future of Advertising
Description: The Boston Tufts Alliance is pleased to present a panel of industry experts to discuss the future of advertising. As advertisers increasingly seek more cost effective ways to communicate to consumers and as they attempt to distinguish themselves from the clutter of competitors, they are more willing to consider new marketing techniques and technologies.
Come hear a discussion on how technology and competitive pressures are affecting traditional advertising today and what the future may hold. Anyone working in, or sharing a general interest about advertising, communications and marketing should not miss this informative event!

Panelist bios:
John Gilbert - As Vice President of Marketing for Dunkin’ Brands Inc., John is one of the world’s leading authorities in brand building and brand revitalization. He oversees all Dunkin’ Donuts marketing initiatives, including advertising, sales promotion, product development and concept initiatives for the worldwide brand. He also plays a key role on the development of new products and the design of new Dunkin’ Donuts stores. Earlier, John served as Chief Marketing Officer for Kentucky Fried Chicken, where he directed all marketing functions, including consumer insights, brand management, advertising, public relations, field marketing, and comprehensive strategies, and also was involved in store layout and design, and new product development. Earlier stints include Senior Vice President of Marketing and R&D at Carlson Restaurants Worldwide and the top marketing role at General Cinema. John holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Louisville and a B.A. degree in creative writing from the University of Maine.
Bob Hurley, A70 – Bob has spent the past 10 years at Digitas, one of the country’s leading digital and direct marketing agencies . He has most recently been Executive Vice President and Relationship Leader for the company’s AT&T and Ericsson online and offline accounts. He brings to the role more than 20 years of advertising and marketing experience. Prior to joining Digitas in 1994, Bob was founder and president of The Express Music Catalog, responsible for all merchandising, systems, e-commerce, and circulation management. Previously, he was the European account director at Saatchi and Saatchi for Procter & Gamble. Bob holds a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
Andy Feinberg, A86 – As Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Brightcove, an Internet television start-up, his responsibilities include Brightcove's strategic relationships, corporate development, and all of Brightcove's legal matters. Andy joined Brightcove after 5 1/2 years at Lycos, Inc., where he was Vice President and General Counsel. While at Lycos, in addition to heading a team responsible for all of Lycos' legal affairs, Andy also played a leading role in negotiating and establishing many of Lycos' key US and international relationships, including with companies such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Bell Canada, AT&T, and Fox. Before joining Lycos, he was in private practice with Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, and Shearman & Sterling in New York. Before that, Andy served as law clerk for the former Chief Judge for the United States District Court for Connecticut. Andy received his JD from Cornell Law School, where he was an Editor of the Cornell Law Review, and his BA from Tufts University.
Michael Kokernak – Backchannelmedia is the nation's only web-enabled direct response television media buying firm. As President, CEO & Founder of Backchannelmedia, Michael Kokernak has researched, written about, and been quoted in regard to the future of television advertising and content throughout his career. His research has been footnoted by the Norman Lear Center as part of its Creativity, Commerce & Culture project. Kokernak’s commentaries and articles have appeared in numerous industry publications. He has reported on subjects including video on demand and the future of interactive television. Earlier, Michael was the Vice President of Affiliate and Public Relations for Shop at Home Networks, a television home shopping network. Michael started his career in Boston working for the institutional trading arm of Lehman Brothers. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.
