Description: Join this delightful Tuscan experience and discover the stunning beauty, rich history and unrivalled artistic and cultural legacies of one of Italy's most fabled regions while staying in the heart of the medieval town of Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This specially designed itinerary features a full program of included excursions that provides a perfect balance between the world-renowned treasures of Florence and some of Tuscany's lesser-known treasures, like the medieval hamlets of San Gimignano and Montalcino, where the rhythms of life have remained virtually unchanged for centuries. Stand in Siena's Piazza del Campo, where Tuscany’s greatest festival, the Palio, has been held since 1283; admire Michelangelo's masterpiece, the David, in Florence; sample the world-renowned wines of Chianti; and savor the delights of one of Italy’s most famous cuisines. Our exploration of Tuscany’s history and culture will be enriched through a custom-designed program of exclusive lectures and enhancements, including a performance of Gregorian chants by monks at the Abbey of St. Antimo.
