| RED CITY, RED SEA: THE NILE VALLEY AND PETRA |
| Dates: January 29 to February 8, 2009 |
Description: Join us for an extraordinary travel experience, encompassing 5,000 years of history, legend and Biblical tradition, that will take us from the Pharaonic splendors of the Nile Valley and the sacred mountains of Sinai to the “rose-red” city of Petra. Stand face to face with the Sphinx in the shadow of the Pyramids of Giza and walk in the footsteps of Ramses the Great in ancient Thebes, Homer’s “City of a thousand gates.” Cruise across the Red Sea in style and comfort aboard the M.V. Monet. Wind through wadis and oases to the foot of Mt. Sinai, and journey to the birthplace of monasticism in the barren cliffs along Egypt’s Red Sea coast. Enjoy the legendary hospitality of the Bedouins during a festive evening at a traditional desert camp, and, if you wish, snorkel in the waters off Ras Mohammed, home to one of the most pristine underwater environments on earth. Also available: experience the glories of medieval Cairo and the Greco-Roman riches of Jordan by joining the Cairo Pre-Program Option and/or the Amman Post-Program Option.
