| MADRID TO MALLORCA |
| Dates: March 6 to 14, 2009 |
Description: Join us on a custom-designed discovery of the beauty of Spain. The fourth in a series of literary explorations in partnership with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Tufts University, Madrid to Mallorca offers a unique opportunity to experience the diversity, color and passion that is Spain while following in the footsteps of writers and artists of renown. Under the guidance of popular study group leader Dot Dudley, our trip begins in Spain's capital, Madrid, where we will walk in the footsteps of Hemingway. From here we continue to striking Barcelona, the inspiration for much great 20th-century writing. Following an excursion up the Costa Brava in search of Salvador Dali, we'll round out our journey with a three-night stay on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, a serene change of pace from the bustling cities, and the beloved home of poet, scholar and novelist Robert Graves. Along the course of the journey, in addition to our literary pursuits, we will explore the art of two 20th-century masters: Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro.
