| A VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE: MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN LIMA, PERU |
| Dates: April 17 to 25, 2009 |
Description: This volunteer journey to Lima, Peru in partnership with Cross-Cultural Solutions enables volunteers to work side-by-side with local people and experience another culture in a unique way. The volunteer work is project-based and designed with the goal of accomplishing the project within just one week. Volunteers in Lima have the opportunity to work with local people in the community of Villa El Salvador – a shantytown nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for Social Development. There are many opportunities in daycare centers, schools, women's groups, schools for children with disabilities, and more. In-country staff determine the volunteer project based on the community’s needs, and provide cultural & learning activities to enhance our knowledge of the local culture and customs of Peru. There is also free time to relax, reflect, or explore the community.
