| SPECTACLE OF THE SERENGETI: A TANZANIA SAFARI |
| Dates: February 8 to 18, 2009 |
Description: Travel with us on the journey of a lifetime into the wilds of Tanzania, Africa’s premier safari destination. Here vast herds of elephant, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and Cape buffalo roam the savannas, stalked by the magnificent carnivores – lion, cheetah, and leopard – that prey on them in one of Earth’s greatest natural spectacles. Rivaling the grandeur of Tanzania’s wildlife is the panoramic sweep of its scenery: In the north, the snow-crowned summit of Kilimanjaro towers majestically above the plains, while the grasslands of the Serengeti offer unrestricted vistas in every direction. In the Ngorongoro Crater, savannas, forests and wetlands are enclosed by the sheer 2,000-foot-high walls of an ancient caldera. Throughout the program, enjoy accommodations in fine lodges and learn about Tanzania’s wildlife and environment from the naturalist-guide who will accompany us on game drives and other excursions. To complement this Tanzania experience, extend the journey with a Zanzibar Post-Program Option; this fabled isle is renowned for its natural beauty and unique historical role as a crossroads of trade and culture.
