Jennifer Tam with President Lawrence Bacow at the Awards Ceremony

Jennifer Tam is a rising senior with a triple major in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science(!) who has made the dean's list every semester. This year she won the Class of 1947 Victor Prather Prize (for students who have demonstrated excellence in scientific research, enthusiasm for the pursuit of knowledge, and a dedication to scholarly achievement), one of the most distinguished academic awards at Tufts.

In her junior year she conducted an independent research project with Professor Boghosian on closed orbits in the Lorenz attractor that combines mathematics and computer science and is on its way to publication. This research is set to continue through her senior year.

Besides triple-majoring and carrying out publishable research, Jenn has been involved in a number of commendable extracurricular activities, including S.T.O.M.P., a Tufts Student-Teacher Outreach Mentor Program. A remarkable and characteristic act of generosity was that in her sophomore year, Jenn cut her long hair to donate the hair to "Locks of Love". She is the type of person who will always give back to the community at large. Her mentors do not know how she finds enough hours in the day to accomplish what she does, but are sure that she will continue to be a credit to Tufts.
