Reservation Information

Tufts Music - Granoff Music Center
Reservation Information

For non-Tufts University function inquiries
and/or outside rentals (including Tufts Alumnae/i)
For inquiries from non-Tufts offices, companies, ensembles, individuals, Tufts alumni, or groups (or from Tufts students, staff, or faculty members who wish to use the space for a non-Tufts University function) regarding the use of the Granoff Music Center, including the Distler Performance Hall, Fisher Performance Room, Varis Lecture Hall, the Murnane Lobby, and any of the classrooms within the space, please call the Tufts University Conference Bureau at 617.627.3568. Fees and rates for use of the space can be discussed with the Conference Bureau. Please note, availability for non-Tufts functions during the fall and spring academic terms is extremely limited. The World Music Room and Seminar Room are not available for outside rentals.

On campus function inquiries
On campus inquiries regarding the use of the Granoff Music Center (from any Tufts Department, Office, Division, Campus Group, TCU Group, individual student, et cetera) should be submitted via the R25 reservation system. Please note that the main spaces in the Granoff Music Center (in particular the Distler Performance Hall, Murnane Lobby, Fisher Performance Room, and World Music Room) have tight restrictions for use and are very limited in availability during academic semesters. Fees will apply for the use of these spaces within the center, and prior to an event being booked, a music staff member will need to meet with a particular (post event request) to discuss fees and determine if the event is suitable to be held within the Granoff Center’s halls. Classroom use is also restricted, however fees will not normally apply. Please see note below regarding R25.

Important note for on campus inquiries –
Effective October 15, 2007, the Granoff Music Center/Music Department will no longer be accepting reservation requests for the use of the Distler Performance Hall, Fisher Performance Room, and Murnane Lobby through the end of the 2007 fall semester. Please do not submit these requests via R25. Classroom requests may still be considered, but requests must submitted at least two weeks in advance, via R25. A request for space does not guarantee it will or can be reserved. Please see note below on this matter (*).

Reservations for the 2008 spring semester for Distler, Fisher, and the Murnane Lobby will still be considered on a very limited basis, but spaces are not guaranteed. Please note, there is no availability and no reservations requests will be accepted for any of these spaces from December 21, 2007 - January 4, 2008, February 15, 2008 - March 9, 2008, and March 24, 2008 - May 5, 2008 due to extremely heavy usage by the Department of Music and previously scheduled university events. At any time, requests for free standing receptions, dinners, or conferences to take place in the Murnane Lobby on weekdays or weeknights will not normally be considered as access to our classrooms and performing spaces is cut off when these events are in progress or being set-up. Please note that there are no spaces in the Granoff Music Center suitable for a sit down dinner during the academic term.

The Music Center’s spaces for Commencement/Reunion week and summer term will be coordinated through the university conference bureau. Reservations for 2008-2009 are not yet being accepted. Please do not submit these requests. We will announce when we will accept those requests sometime in the spring semester.

*Please also note, the Department of Music is in the process of transitioning Granoff Music Center scheduling to the R25 system. While the webviewer of events may indicate a particular space is available, we are still in the process of uploading all of the Music program's rehearsals, events, and concerts into the system. There are well over 300 such entries and the process is taking more time than was originally anticipated. We please ask for your patience when scheduling through R25, and you can feel free to call us in the meantime about a particular space if you are concerned that your request was not received. Please keep in mind, even with the above "windows" of space to make reservations, not all requests will be accepted for Granoff Music Center spaces.
