Tufts Music in France!
Adult Chamber Music and Composition in Talloires

Chamber Music in the French Alps at the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France,  August 10-17, 2008.

Intensive chamber music coaching and performance of standard repertoire and newly composed works for strings and piano. The European Center is Tufts University's campus in the charming resort village of Talloires, France. An outstanding setting for study, contemplation and exploration, the Center is located in a former Benedictine priory that dates to the 11th century and is just steps away from the mountain-rimmed Lake Annecy, one of the most stunning sites in Western Europe.  The program will take full advantage of this exceptional location, offering an unparalleled combination of European charm and a commitment to a high level of music making.

Adult chamber musicians who play piano or strings may apply as individuals or as pre-formed groups.  Repertoire will be assigned well in advance of the August workshop.  The week will be a combination of rehearsals, practicing, lectures, and concerts in addition to opportunities to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings with swimming, hiking, and boating.  Wonderful lunches are served in the garden of the priory each day; there are morning and afternoon coffee breaks, and each evening the group dines at a different local restaurant to sample a wide range of unparalleled French food and wine.  Spouses and auditors are welcome to take part in activities and enjoy this remarkable region of the French Alps.

There will be a faculty concert at the beginning of the week, and there will be a concert at the end of the week presented by all participants that will feature both works from the standard repertoire and premieres of brand new chamber pieces written for adult groups by composer participants.
