Applied Design of Software User Interfaces
Ok. Let's get this straight from the beginning: this class is
difficult and demands a lot of your time. But, the other side of that is
that you learn a lot of extremely useful information and gain some good
experience. The format is shifted towards very applied skills; you do a
project a week to apply the stuff you learned in class that week. If you
put forth some effort and show that you care, you will do well.
The Professor, Mike Wiklund, is an executive at American Institute
for Reseach, a HF consulting organization in MA. A lot of the projects
stem from past work that Mike has done. Unlike other HCI courses you may
take, this one also spends time on non-computer interfaces and
dedicated-computer interfaces, like kiosks. I recommend this class if you
are interested in human-machine interaction and are not taking a lot of
other hard classes.
