POSITION OVERVIEW:
   Want to be the technical guru of a two-person sales team?
   Ready to leave the "cube" for the exciting world of Sales/Marketing?

   This opportunity is an excellent stepping stone from software development 
   to a career involving customer interaction.

   We are seeking a software engineer to provide pre-sales technical support 
   for our Northeast regional sales office in Marlboro, MA.

   Day-to-Day activities involve: problem solving, programming, consulting,
   pre-sales support and marketing. Also involves, traveling to customer sites 
   for presentations and hands-on training.  The software engineer will be 
   responsible for all technical issues relating to the sale of our products. 
   The individual will be supporting an experienced Sales Manager, who is 
   responsible for finding and closing sales opportunities. 

   The Marlboro field office (one of eight) services the northeast 
   territory which includes: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire,
   Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, Northern New Jersey, and eastern
   Canada.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS: 
   * Excellent communication and problem solving skills
   * Individual must be SELF MANAGED and SELF MOTIVATED
   * Willing to travel, may involve some overnight travel. (<10%)
   * B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline
   * 2 yrs experience in industry as a Software Developer, Support Engineer or 
     Sales Engineer. 
   * Programming experience in C++, C, X11/Motif or MFC/WIN32
   * Strong Background in Object Oriented Design
   * Working Knowledge of the internet 
   * Experience with DataViews products or similar tools.
   * Must be USA citizen

RESPONSIBILITIES:
   * Provide pre-sales support to evaluators. (programming, teaching, etc)
   * Demonstrate our products during sales calls, trade-shows and seminars.
   * Act as a Professional Problem Solver to help close the sale.
   * Develop demos and proof-of-concepts to promote our products.

   Other responsibilities include:

   * Maintaining office Hardware/Software (Sun SPARCstation 5)
   * Keeping track of industry trends and competition, such as, X11, Motif, 
     Object Oriented Programming/Class Libraries, scripting languages 
     (tcl, python), internet access.
