MARCAM CORPORATION 95 Wells Avenue Newton, Mass. 02159 Job Posting POSITION TITLE User Interface Architect/Designer DEPARTMENT Protean Product Development AVAILABILITY 10/96 DESCRIPTION As an architect, you will help define and articulate the user interface direction for Marcam's object-oriented Protean line of products. You will enhance the existing UI architecture while working within Marcam's schedule commitments. You will coordinate UI designers in 3 development labs across North America, ensuring commonality in the UI for the products developed in each lab and sold world-wide. As a designer, you will work with a team of designers creating user interface designs for the Production modules of Protean. You must be able to work well with others at all levels within an organization and to be an effective advocate for a competitive user interface strategy and product usability. Approximately 10-15 % travel is required. REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of current trends in the field of User Interface Design and the ability to use this knowledge to help shape the future direction of Marcam products. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization; both internal (sales, marketing, development) and external customers (prospects, customers, vendors, consultants). Ability to define and maintain user interface standards and guidelines that are compatible with current trends and technologies. Ability to work closely with developers and product managers to understand product requirements, and to collaborate with the designers towards the design of effective, highly usable, and implementable graphical user interfaces.^¿ Familiarity with user interface internationalization issues Familiarity with MS-Windows applications and look and feel standards including Windows 95 Excellent teamwork skills; including negotiation and collaboration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. DESIRED SKILLS Knowledge of manufacturing environments or software. Extensive familiarity with MS-Windows applications and look and feel standards. Familiarity with rapid user interface prototyping tools or techniques. Knowledge of current trends and willingness to keep abreast of new versions, tools, techniques, etc. Bachelor degree or higher in Psychology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or similar field. Graphical user interface software implementation experience.
