Opportunity at SIEMENS: +++ Usability Internships +++ The SIEMENS Usability Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, is looking for motivated individuals to assist in user interface design and evaluation projects. You can learn more about SIEMENS at http://www.siemens.com. The Usability Center provides usability engineering and design support to a variety of SIEMENS product developments in Germany and the US. We work in international teams with marketing, development, and customers to create software interfaces that are appealing and easy-to-use for users in all target markets. Responsibilities The involvement includes assisting in interface prototyping, usability testing, and usability inspections. Tasks include: * Develop paper and software prototypes. * Discuss prototypes with developers and test with customers. * Help in defining cross-application interface design elements. * Assist in test plan development, equipment and software setup, logging of test activities, production of summary videos, documentation of test results. * Conduct usability inspections. Qualifications The applicant should be at least a sophomore and should have a background in human factors or in graphic or industrial design, computer science, psychology, engineering, or technical writing, with a strong interest in human-computer interaction. Familiarity with at least some of the following tools is required: * prototyping tools such as Director, Visual Basic, or Smalltalk * user interface toolkits under Windows 95/NT and/or UNIX * documentation and presentation tools such as Word and PowerPoint * video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
