Wanted: Senior UI designers/Software Systems Usability Engineers

FTP Software, the market leader in corporate intranet sales, is looking 
for 2 experienced user interface designers/usability engineers to help 
design and test the next generation of intranet software.  FTP Software 
is developing leading edge JAVA and web-enabled applications and needs 
innovative UI designers and evaluators. These are permanent positions 
and will be available in the next 2 months. The general requirements are 
listed below.

Participates in all phases of a product development cycle, from 
requirements definition to product follow-up; applies appropriate 
usability engineering methods at each of those phases. Has experience 
with the following usability evaluation methods: questionnaires, paper 
prototyping, formal lab testing, field interviews, and user interface 
inspections. Acts as an advocate and change agent to increase the 
awareness of and participation in usability engineering activities. Can 
be the usability project leader for a release. This includes writing a 
usability engineering plan complete with measurable usability goals. 
Possesses and applies good problem-solving skills to UI design 
situations.  Can formulate and adhere to schedules. 

Recommends new GUI architectures, develops creative solutions for large 
or complex user interfaces. Has state-of-the-art awareness in the 
usability/user interface design field. Has detailed knowledge of 
Microsoft Windows GUI recommendations. Acts as liaison and 
problem-solver regarding UI design between engineering, documentation, 
and marketing. Works with customers, sales, and marketing in addition to 
development and documentation. Acts as mentor to others. Communicates 
well to others^×both orally and in writing. Listens well.

BA, BS, MA, MS, or Ph.D degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial 
Engineering, or a related field.

4-8 years of experience.
