Our Human Factors Engineering group focuses on the design and development of internal operations and support systems for U S WEST employees in our 14 state region. As a member of our group, you will work with users and software development teams to gather and analyze user and task requirements, prototype software user interface design alternatives, and perform usability testing of proposed designs. Required Qualifications: ------------------------ + Degree in a human factors related field such as computer science, psychology or industrial engineering with a particular emphasis in user interface design and human-computer interaction; + Course work/research in cognitive psychology, experimental design and statistics; + Good communications skills; + Ability to work independently, and as part of diverse project teams; + Willingness to travel (approx. 15%) Desired Qualifications: ---------------------- + 2 yrs. minimum relevant work experience; + Experience in telecommunications or data communications industry; + Knowledge of user interface design guidelines (Windows, OSF/Motif, Macintosh); + Design with one or more GUI builder tools such as Forte, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, Oracle Forms, Open Interface; + Experience designing Web interfaces with HTML; + Experience designing and conducting field usability tests; + Programming/scripting knowledge & experience a plus.
