Responsibilities will include user interface design, human factors engineering and usability testing in support of product development for pioneering Internet commerce systems. Work with end-users and internal stakeholders to determine product requirements and design goals using user-centered design methodologies and iterative prototyping. Design, create and test web-based interfaces to sophisticated applications, work with and influence other members of the development team. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently while coordinating multiple tasks with different priorities. Qualifications: 2-3 years relevant work experience in the domains of human factors and usability engineering. At least one year applying these skills to the design and development of web-based systems. Skills/Experience: Background in user-interface design, human factors engineering and software development. Experience in applying these skills to designing, developing and performing usability testing of web applications, especially for large corporate web sites. Strong interpersonal communications skills. Knowledge of user-centered design techniques. Experience in gaining active end-user involvement in the specification, design and testing phases through focus groups, interviews, site visits and surveys. Experience using usability labs to validate designs and identify problems. Familiarity with rapid, iterative prototyping techniques and skills using script-driven prototyping tools. Strong understanding of HTML specifications and of what makes a web page browser independent. Good writing skills and meticulous attention to detail would be a plus. The ideal candidate will be passionate about good design, able to explore and comprehend the needs of the intended audience, create innovative and intuitive interface designs, properly document design decisions and specifications, and work with the entire team to deliver quality products on-time every time.
