American Institutes for Research (Concord, MA) is seeking individuals who want to become proficient in the tools and methods of usability engineering. We are contracted by major high-tech companies to conduct research on product usability, including evaluation and user interface design. (See www.air- dc.org.) Working closely with senior staff, the candidate will contribute to all aspects of usability engineering efforts, including planning & conducting usability tests; designing and prototyping user interfaces; contributing to research reports, and communicating with clients. She or he will also be encouraged to contribute to research for publication and presentation. We are looking for part-time and full-time applicants, recent (or soon-to-be) college graduates from any of the following areas: human factors, cognitive or experimental psychology, or industrial, graphic, or product design. Applicants should have demonstrated superior performance in courses, projects, or internships, have excellent communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, and be able work well in a supportive, but often high-pressured, environment.
