SOFTWARE HUMAN FACTORS PERMANENT AND INTERNSHIP POSITIONS IBM Santa Teresa Lab, San Jose, CA We are looking to fill human factors positions that involve applying user-centered design methodologies to the development of software user interfaces. The positions involve working in a multidisciplinary team to design, prototype, and evaluate graphical user interfaces for database and application development products. Paid internship assignments are for a period of six months to one year. Strong applicants should have some combination of the following skills, experience, and personal characteristics. TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS * Can learn new technologies quickly * Familiar with graphical user interfaces and the associated style guidelines * Has knowledge of User Centered Design methodologies * Has experience prototyping * Has experience with usability evaluation * Has strong interest in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and a familiarity with the HCI literature SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE * Knows Visual Basic, HyperCard, or other prototyping tools * Knows BASIC, C++, SmallTalk, REXX, or other programming languages * Knows HTML * Knows software applications for WinNT, Win95, AIX, NT, OS/2 ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS * Adaptable and dependable * Highly motivated, a self-starter * A good communicator * Works well in teams * An innovative attitude EDUCATION Internship candidates must be enrolled in a degree program.
