Lauderdale, FL, a leading supplier of hand held and mobile telecommunications products, has an immediate, full-time, opportunity available for a Human Factors & Ergonomics Specialists (Ph.D. level & MS level). You will apply your user-centered design and evaluation skills to the development of advanced two-way radio communications products, working closely with Industrial Design, hardware and software engineering, marketing and customers -- ensuring ease-of-use. You will develop and deliver customer needs analyses, product requirements, rapid prototypes, and usability metrics including conducting field and laboratory usability tests. You will recommend design alternatives as a member of a growing high-energy group committed to developing excellent usable products. This is a hands-on product design, development, and evaluation position, not primarily a research position. These 'smart products' tend to be small, highly featured, hand-held and vehicle-mounted communications devices with real-time, embedded microprocessors with the typical challenges of small displays and limited controls. This is NOT just another GUI design position (although we do GUI work also). Requirements For Position: Must have Masters or Ph.D. in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Psychology (with emphasis in Human Factors) coupled with proven work experience in a Product Design, Development, and Evaluation environment. Experience designing hand-held products is an asset.
