---------- From: Lisa Bennett[SMTP:llbenne@uswest.com] Sent: Monday, March 16, 1998 6:26 PM Subject: Placing Tufts HFE Students at U S WEST My name is Lisa Bennett, but when you were my advisor I was Lisa Bayless. I graduated from the Tufts Human Factors Program in Liberal Arts in 1994. At that time I came home here to Colorado and started working as a contractor for the local phone company, U S WEST. About the same time, another student Tufts HF student (in Engineering), Doug McCuen, also started working as a contractor at U S WEST. Since then we both converted to be regular full time employees at U S WEST. The organization that we work for is the Human Factors Engineering group in the Information Technologies division of U S WEST Communications. Our group works together to develop corporate Human Factors standards for Graphical User Interface and Web Site development. We also have individuals that are HF representatives on development teams, as matrixed team members. Both Doug and I have been matrixed to various projects, and both of us have had stellar reviews from those projects. Because of our success I asked the Human Factors Project Manager, Tom DiPersio, if we could look into bringing more Tufts HF graduates into our group. We are currently looking for summer interns and hiring contractors and employees. Attached is the job announcement that Tom is circulating. Would you please post this in a visible location and let students know about the opportunities that we have here. I am happy to talk to students and answer questions that they might have. If you have any other ideas about how I could get my request out to the Tufts HF students please let me know. I would greatly enjoy building a dialogue with you and current HF students, undergraduate and graduate. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you and HFE students soon. Lisa L.
