Article I: Name
Section I
- The name of this organization will be the Persian Association of Tufts.
Article II: Purpose
Section I
- The purpose of this association will be to promote the Persian culture and language.
- The second purpose of this association will be to build friendships among its
members.
Article III: Membership
Section I
- Membership will be open to any member of the Tufts Community who has paid the
student activities fee.
Article IV: Meetings
Section I
- Meetings will be held on a bi-weekly basis during the academic year.
- Execuvitve board meetings will be held on the first week of every month.
Article V: Officers and Elections
Section I
- The officers of the organization shall be the president, the vice-president,
secretary and the treasurer.
- The officers will be chosen by the majority vote of the voting members.
- A voting member is one who attends a minimum of 50% of the meetings.
- At least five persons should be present in order to form a quorum in order to vote.
- In a tie, the president decides among the candidates.
- THe president holds the equivalent of two votes.
- The candidates are chosen by A) being nominated by others or B) being nominated by
themselves.
- In order to qualify for running, the candidate/nominee must hvae attended at least
50% of the metings held in the fall and spring semesters.
- Elections will be held in the last meeting of the spring semester.
Article VI: The Officers
Section I
- The President
- Shall preside over all meetings
- Has the authority to act on behalf of the Persian Association when matters require
immediate action.
Section II
- The Vice-President
- Shall take over the responsibilities of the president in his or her absence
- Shall assist the president in carrying out his or her duties.
Section III
- Treasurer
- Shall keep all financial records of the association
- Shall take the responsiblity of preparation of the budget of the Persian Association
Section IV
- Secretary
- Shall keep all minutes of the officers' meetings.
- Shall help advertise the club.
Article VII: Amendments
Section I
- Voting members may propose amendments to the constitution.
- A minimum of a 50% vote in favor is required to ratify the amendment(s).
Article VIII: Impeachment
Section I
- A minimum of a 75% vote in favor is required to impeach an officer.
