The main attraction of the lab is the 8' x 4' x 1' tide pool which can house lobsters, starfishes, horseshoe crabs, and many other sea creatures. Unfortunately, when the tidfe pool was first put together last year, artificial rocks were molfed over wire mesh. The structure was then placed in the tide pool. The mesh leached zinc into the tide pool, rendering it uninhabitable.

So the first task for the summer was to rebuild and rehabitate the tide pool. The first action was to order a new plexiglass tank. The old one had been cracked, and leaked small amounts of water despite numerous caulking attempts. The safest decision was to order a new tank despite the expense. It would avoid any possible flooding in the future.
