The next feature of the tide pool that needed repair was the dump bucket. The bucket was attached to a spring, with the idea that the water would fill the bucket. Once the water in the bucket reached a certain weight, it would overcome the force of the spring that was holding it back, and would dump all of the water into the tide pool. Once the bucket emptied all of the water, the spring would snap it back and the bucket would start filling up again. This should have created waves at regular intervals. What ended up happening is the bucket would partially fill up and tip over. Instead of emptying itself, it would spill out a little bit of water, and then stay tilted at that angle while the water filling up the bucket simply ran through the bucket into the tidepool. Essentially, the bucket would find an equilibrium where it would stop dumping and filling, and it would create a waterfall instead.
