Data Format

Please follow the guidelines below when submitting data, documents or images:

Data and doucment file formats

  • Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) - Presentations must be prepared for delivery over the web using the PowerPoint "Pack-and-Go" feature. Pack-and-Go can be found under the extended File menu within PowerPoint .
  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (.xls)
  • Microsoft Word document (.doc)
  • Rich text file (.rtf))
  • ASCII text file (.txt)

Image file formats

  • Adobe Photoshop (.psd)
  • Tagged Index file format (.tiff or .tif)
  • Bitmap (.bmp)
  • JPEG (.jpeg or .jpg)
  • GIF (.gif)
  • PNG (.png)

Images should be created at 72 dpi resolution for display on the web. Images should be no longer than 400 pixels on the longest axis. JPEG is the best format for displaying photograph type images on the web. GIF is best for displaying solid color graphics. For high quality/resolution images that will be downloaded rather than displayed on the web, please use either TIFF, Bitmap or Photoshop files formats. Note: if you use Photoshop file format the recipient will need to have Photoshop installed on their computer or a Photoshop file converter in their image editing software.

File naming formats

  • Abbreviation of team name or location (example: New Jersey = nj). Use all lower case characters, no spaces in file names. Use an underscore "_" if you need to separate parts in a file name.
  • File name numbers should be in two digit format (example: 01, 02, 03,..... 09, 10, 11, 12).
  • Most recent version should be described in file name (example: nj_game_02 is newer than nj_game_01).
  • Activities with multiple pages should identify the separate pages using an a, b, c, designation (example: nj_game_02a is page one, nj_game_02b is page two, nj_game_02c is page three, etc.)
  • Image file names should describe the image and the page on which they occur (example: drilling dome image = nj_game_02a_drill_dome).

Submitting files

  • Submit all materials as email attachments with a descriptive email note.
  • For larger files please send either a DVD, CD, or Zip disk. Mail disks to: Zach Smith, IECWS, Wright Center, 4 Colby Street, Room 267c, Medford, MA 02155.
