Donna L. Young - Curriculum Consultant/Developer

Donna came to the Wright Center from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, Maine. While at the MSSM she taught Advanced Placement Physics and Astrophysics.

She graduated from the University of Maine with a Masters degree in Science Education and a CAS in Science Curriculum.

Donna is currently involved in a number of projects including:

  • Author of an astronomy curriculum called "Hands On Astrophysics - variable stars in science, mathematics and computer class." This project is jointly funded by AAVSO and NSF. This curriculum is currently being converted to a web-based format.
  • National Event Coordinator for the high school Astronomy event for the National Science Olympiad. Presenter at numerous Science Olympiad clinics nationwide.
  • National and international formal and informal space science workshops for AAVSO, AASTRA, MMSA, CXC.
  • Lead Educator and Curriculum Developer for the Chandra X-Ray Center at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
