Part of the WDOP mission is to provide high-quality educational materials to students, teachers, and the public at large. We strive to make available the latest information and activities related to climate change in general and the WAIS Divide ice coring project in particular. These materials fall into two categories...

The first includes solutions such as online materials and collaborative programs designed to "get the word out" concerning global climate change. Many of these solutions can be implemented by just about anyone simply by making small changes to everyday habits. The idea is that as we become more aware of the role each of us plays in global climate change, the easier it will be for us to reduce our impact on planet Earth.

The second category is aimed at teachers and students. WDOP has developed a number of educational products that will help students better understand what climate change is and how scientists go about studying it. Products range from a short guide to glaciers and their impact on the landscape to deep-sea sediment sampling using foraminifera shells as tiny climate change "time capsules" to downloadable posters describing the various methods of gathering climate change data.
