| Welcome to the Tufts University Department of Public & Environmental Safety. The development of this home page was the collective effort of many members of our staff. I am grateful for their contributions. Our department consists of several organizations responsible for safety, security and loss prevention on the three campuses of Tufts University. Among these are the Tufts University Police Department, Environmental Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Risk Management & Insurance, and Tufts Emergency Medical Services (TEMS). In addition, Public Safety Administrative Services encompasses parking services, shuttle services, photo ID cards, and access systems. FDA Food Safety Alert The FDA has warned consumers to avoid certain types of raw tomatoes due to an outbreak of salmonellosis. See the FDA news release for details. Emergency Response Guide Public Safety has published a guide for members of the Tufts Community with instructions for handling a variety of emergencies which may affect a Tufts campus. The ERG is available through the Emergency Preparedness web site. |

Department of Public & Environmental Safety
Clery Campus Safety Award
In 1997 the non-profit organization Security On Campus, Inc. recognized Tufts University with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award. Presented annually to an institution and an individual, the Clery Award "was established in 1994 by Howard & Connie Clery to honor schools and individuals that have done extraordinary things to make college and university students safer."
