Continuing Review

Following the initial review of a study, the IRB must review all studies at least annually for as long as they continue. The IRB may choose to review a particular study on a more frequent basis at its discretion. At the time of study approval, the IRB will give you an expiration date for the approval, which will normally be one year from the approval date. Failure to obtain continuing review approval prior to the expiration date will result in your approval having lapsed. If you continue to conduct the research after the approval has lapsed, it is considered noncompliance.
