Prior to initiating research involving human subjects, researchers must complete an on-line tutorial and related exams. Social, behavioral and educational human subjects research is the particular focus of the required educational unit developed through the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) Program for Tufts University SBER IRB.

All IRB members and investigators (faculty, research staff, students, faculty research advisers and research assistants) involved in human subjects research are required to complete the CITI program. When all requirements are completed, you will receive a Course Completion Report and a copy will be sent to the IRB training coordinator.

IMPORTANT NOTE: AS OF JANUARY 1, 2008 THE NEW POLICY FOR ONGOING TRAINING CAME INTO EFFECT. IRB TRAINING IS VALID FOR A MAXIMUM OF 5 YEARS. THEREFORE, INVESTIGATORS WHO TOOK ANY OF THE IRB TRAINING COURSES PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, 2003 ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE CITI TRAINING COURSE. PLEASE BE SURE TO COMPLETE THE REQUIRED TRAINING BY NO LATER THAN APRIL 30, 2008.
