Roger Fielding Refining the Exercise Prescription to Maintain Muscle Power as We Age
Roger Fielding, PhD, became director of the Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, and Sarcopenia Laboratory at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University in October 2004. He was appointed a professor in the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 2005.

Christos GeorgakisCreating Mathematical Models of Chemical Processes
In 2004 Christos Georgakis, PhD, came to Tufts from Polytechnic University of New York to chair the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. His research centers on complex chemical reactions that occur in various systems, from a pharmaceutical production plant to the chemical plant that is the human body.

Emmanuel PothosLinking Midbrain Dopamine Neurotransmission and Dietary Obesity
Emmanuel Pothos, PhD, recently joined the faculty of the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.

Donna SlonimApplying Genomic Data to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Disease
Donna Slonim, PhD, joined the faculty of the Department of Computer Science in the School of Engineering in 2005. She holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine and is a faculty member of the Genetics Program of the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.

Grant Writing Assistance from the Office of the Vice Provost
Amy Gantt began working for the Office of the Vice Provost as a freelance grant writer and editor in March 2004 and was hired as a staff member in April 2005. “Grant writing is an ideal job for me because I like the challenge of learning about new fields, I work best with deadlines looming, and I enjoy the variety of projects I get to work on,” says Gantt. “I also particularly like the collaborative environment at the Office of the Vice Provost and throughout the institution.”
