Postdoc Dinner – March 23, 2012

Happy Spring! May you plant seeds for your career this season that ripen to a bountiful harvest. In honor of the Spring equinox, we have a postdoc dinner at the Moroccan Hospitality restaurant at 188 Salem Street in Malden on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 7:00pm. The plan is a Moroccan feast including Bastilla, tagine and couscous. We have a couple of slots available. If you would like to join us please RSVP to sarah.short@tufts.edu.

Coffee Hour – Medford/Somerville Campus

The next Medford/Somerville campus postdoc coffee hour will be held at the Burden Lounge in Anderson Hall on Monday, April 2, 2012 between 9:00 and 10:30am. Please come join us and meet your fellow postdocs.

Coffee Hour – Medford/Somerville Campus

The first Postdoc coffee hour on the Medford campus was held on January 26, 2012 at the Hotung cafe in The Mayer Student Center. Ten postdoctoral scholars from Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering attended and got to know each other. The next Medford coffee hour will be in early April 2012.  Please check back for the time and place.

Chinese New Year Dinner

On Friday, January 27, 2012, the Postdoctoral Affairs Office hosted a dinner for postdoctoral scholars to meet and converse. The twelve-course banquet was held at East Ocean City to celebrate the Chinese New Year and we had scholars from Medford/Somerville and Boston Campuses. We hope to have other dinners throughout the year as well as other social events and workshops. Invitations will be posted on this web site and on the e-list.

Postdoc Dinner – January 27, 2012

I wish you all a happy, healthy and productive new year. To celebrate the new year, the Postdoctoral office invites you to a Chinese banquet (location to be determined) on Friday, January 27 at 6pm. We have space for 30 and acceptances will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis (in addition to those who signed up for the December holiday dinner that was canceled). Holiday Dinner

Dear Postdoctoral Scholars:

We have decided to postpone the dinner scheduled for December 23, 2011 to sometime in January where more people can attend. I apologize for the inconvenience. We will limit this event to 30 attendees with priority given to those who signed up for the dinner already and then first come first serve thereafter.

The dinner will be in Chinatown (close to the Boston Campus) at a restaurant, date and time to be determined. If you are interested, please contact Kattie Washington at kattie.washington@tufts.edu.

Coffee Hour

The next coffee hour will be Monday, December 5, 10am, in Jaharis 508 (Boston campus). Come meet your fellow postdocs.

Monthly Coffee Hour

We will begin having a monthly coffee hour for postdocs to get together over coffee and cookies to be held the first Friday of each month. The first one will be Friday October 7th at 9:30 in Jaharis 508. Please come by and meet your fellow scholars. I will be there and would be happy to get your ideas on how to develop a better postdoctoral community here at Tufts. Also, we are planning a revamping of the postdoctoral life web site and your thoughts on this would also be helpful. Hope to see you Friday.

Postdoc Luncheon – September 19, 2011

In honor of National Postdoctoral Fellow Appreciation Week, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs hosted “Take your PI to lunch day” on Monday, September 19, 2011. This luncheon for about 90 people was the inaugural event for this new office dedicated to enhancing the postdoctoral experience at Tufts. There will be other training programs and social events planned for our postdoctoral scholars coming soon and these will be announced on this website.
