10.22.09 A Night to Remember: TUSDM's Vertical Expansion Dedication
"Eighteen months ago, you would have been on a roof, outdoors, on top of our building. Now we are all gathered on the first floor of a five-floor, 95,000-square-foot expansion project," offered Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Dean Lonnie Norris to a round of applause on Friday, November 20, 2009.
This November event marked the grand opening of the new space resulting from the Vertical Expansion Initiative at One Kneeland Street. More than 750 alumni, students, donors, and friends gathered for a speaking program and open house to celebrate the completion of the largest philanthropic initiative in the school's history.
The expansion features 73 state-of-the-art operatories in the new postdoctoral clinics enhanced with views of the Boston skyline, a 109-chair Simulation Learning Center, 75-seat Rachel's Amphitheater, research clinics, and continuing education and administrative suites. The new space will increase enrollment by 52 students and allow the school to hire at least 10 new faculty members.
