Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service

The Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service is built on the belief that there will always be leaders who seek to improve the lives of others, and, where they lead, others will follow.

All across Tufts, growing numbers of students and faculty are building those leadership skills through the resources provided by Tisch College. Conceived six years ago as the University College of Active Citizenship and Public Service, this university-wide initiative has flourished, spurred on by university leadership and supported by generous philanthropy.

Toward that end, the college has launched a $60 million campaign. As part of Beyond Boundaries: The Campaign for Tufts, Tisch College will enhance the infrastructure necessary to support those faculty, students, and alumni across Tufts who wish to make a difference in the world. With a $40 million naming gift from benefactor Trustee Jonathan M. Tisch, A76, the College is off to a great start in supporting campaign priorities. His generosity has solidified our fiscal foundation and set the stage for us to enlarge our influence and impact.

Our campaign priorities include:

Student Support $22M

Undergraduate financial aid $7M
Student development programs, such as student civic engagement awards and programs $15M

Faculty Support $20M

Ten or more university-wide endowed chairs $15M (additional $15 from other schools)
Junior faculty career development endowed professorships $2M
Faculty research support $3M

The holders of these new professorships will help conduct research and develop courses integrating public service into all of the schools at the university. Endowing junior faculty professorships and bolstering faculty research support will also go a long way toward advancing civic engagement.

Annual Fund $2M

During Beyond Boundaries, annual gifts of all sizes will be strategically invested to ensure the essentials of an excellent education.
