Arts and Sciences Applicants

The TuftsPlus program offers tuition scholarships to Tufts undergraduates who are admitted to a participating Graduate School of Arts and Sciences master's program. It also offers a streamlined application process: the GRE requirement is waived and only two letters of recommendation are required. Tufts undergraduates may apply for an early decision to TuftsPlus after completing their junior year. The minimum GPA requirement for the TuftsPlus varies by department and students interested in applying to a program should consult the department's website. Art and Art History
The Department of Art and Art History offers master's degrees focused on a critical and historical understanding of the visual arts. Our curriculum spans the globe, Europe and the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Students are encouraged to work with the resources of local museums, galleries and historic properties.

Biology
The Department of Biology graduate program is arranged into six concentrations, each with an advisor and a core of faculty researchers. Befitting the integrative nature of biology, the department encourages interdisciplinary research and collaborations between academic fields.

Child Development
The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development graduate program integrates research and theory with practice. Concentrations are offered in clinical developmental psychology, cognitive development, educational studies, family studies, language and literacy, children with special needs, and new technologies and human development. Applied settings available to students include Tufts' two lab schools, hospitals, juvenile courts, and early intervention programs.

The Department of Economics graduate program provides an understanding of the theoretical and empirical foundations of economics and the quantitative tools and training for academic research, doctoral studies, or a career as an economist.

Education
The Department of Education graduate program examines current concepts in educational theory, practice, and research. Courses are complemented with fieldwork, an essential part of the program.

• the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Art Education program for licensure to teach in grades PK-8 or grades 5-12;
• the Master of Science (M.S.) in Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Education; and
• the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Educational Studies.

• a senior year GPA of 3.25 or better in their major, and a strong commitment to education and public service.

History
The Department of History graduate program emphasizes a comparative understanding of historical processes. The master's program prepares students for doctoral programs or enhances their work in schools, libraries, foundations, and museums.

Normally only history majors would be considered, but the department will consider applicants from other majors on a case-by-case basis. Qualified applicants must have strong recommendations, a GPA of 3.25 or better and a strong commitment to academic research and scholarship.

Music
The Department of Music graduate program offers the unique opportunity to study broadly across four exciting sub-disciplines--composition, ethnomusicology, musicology, and theory--while receiving focused training in one of them. Advanced coursework and thesis research support is strong in Western classical music, African-American music, and World Music (Africa, East and Southeast Asia, and Latin America).

Open to qualified undergraduates seeking graduate studies in composition/theory, ethnomusicology, and musicology.

Occupational Therapy
The Department of Occupational Therapy offers entry-level and post-professional master's degree programs. The entry-level program prepares students for occupational therapy careers as practitioners. The post-professional master's program offers therapists who have bachelor's degrees in occupational therapy an opportunity for specialization.

The TuftsPlus program is open to qualified undergraduates interested in the professional entry-level program in Occupational Therapy:

• the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (M.S. in OT, no thesis)
• the Master of Arts, Occupational Therapy (M.A., OT, thesis in social science area)
• the Master of Science, Occupational Therapy (M.S., OT, with thesis in biological science area)

• strong recommendations,
• a senior year GPA of 3.25 or better in their major, and
• prerequisites with a B- or better: two courses in the Social Sciences (e.g., Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development), two courses in the Biological Sciences, one of these having a lab, e.g.., Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, one course in introductory Statistics,
• a demonstrated commitment to serving individuals or populations with personal or environmental challenges that affect their ability to participate in satisfying and productive lives
• Certificate of hepatitis B vaccination series upon enrollment
