International Training Programs for Foreign Medical Graduates

The following training opportunities are available to foreign medical graduates who are sponsored by their home government or institution.  These programs are provided to gain strong clinical and/or research training through a prestigious medical school and its affiliated teaching hospitals. 

If you are interested in seeking placement in a Residency or Fellowship program, print out the appropriate form, sign and date, include all required information and forward to the International Affairs Office.  By signing these forms, you are indicating that you accept and agree to all conditions outlined.

 

International Residency Positions in Tufts affiliated hospitals

The goal of this program is to provide a strong clinical experience as well as exposure to the U.S. medical system through Tufts University School of Medicine’s affiliated hospitals. Residents can expect to train, with their American colleagues, in internationally renowned hospitals that are known for their interdisciplinary coordination of education, research, diagnosis and treatment.  In general, these positions will lead to American Board eligibility in a specific clinical specialty.

International Clinical/Fellowship Positions in Tufts affiliated hospitals

The goal of this program is to increase the knowledge and skills of the fellow in any particular subspecialty beyond that of a Residency program.  Fellows can expect to participate, with their American colleagues, in the continued effort of internationally renowned hospitals that are known for their reputations for interdisciplinary coordination of education, research, diagnosis and treatment.  In general, successful completion will lead to American Board eligibility in a specific clinical specialty.

International Research Fellows/Observership Positions in Tufts affiliated hospitals

The goal of this program is to provide opportunities for foreign medical graduates to conduct research and to observe in clinical departments to gain a basic overview of the American Medical System, and to develop skills in clinical research.  Each Research Fellow/Observer will be matched with a faculty member who will serve as their mentor during their entire stay at one of Tufts affiliated hospitals.  The length of these experiences will be determined by the activity involved.
