New techniques in stump revision and reconstruction developed at the St. Petersburg Albrecht Institute of Prosthetics are applied to children with traumatic and congenital stump complications and abnormalities.
These techniques allow for successful prosthetic management and rehabilitation. Strategies and medical indications for microsurgical reimplantation to form load-bearing stumps were among the topics of a special meeting conducted on February 19, 2002 at the Albrecht Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia.
