APUA-Belarus
was established in 2000 by members of the Department of Infectious
Diseases from Vitabesk Medical University. The founding of the chapter
was assisted by APUA-Russia. The chapter coordinated an international
conference called "The problems of rational application of
antibiotics" featuring speakers from Italy, Russia and Belarus.
The conference was held in Vitabesk on October 12-13, 2000; partial
funding for the conference came from the APUA small grants program.
An APUA small grant funded a study to correlate the use of antibiotics
for the treatment of acute intestinal infections to resistance patterns
among Salmonella and Shigella organisms. APUA-Belarus
is also involved in national antibiotic surveillance in patients
with acute intestinal infections.Upcoming International Chapter Events |
