El Salvador
 In 2000, the APUA-El Salvador chapter initiated activities by recruiting a group of experts in the subject of antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance. We are currently recruiting additional members from the pharmaceutical, veterinary and microbiological fields.
The APUA-El Salvador chapter emphasizes the educational aspects of the appropriate use of antibiotics. In 2000, we had the IV National Congress of Infectious Disease, which emphasized the appropriate use of antibiotics. We have also worked with the written press to educate the general population about this subject.
Our current project is to study the unrestricted sale of antibiotics, requesting new legislation to address this problem.
