Bioinformatics/Molecular
Genetics Position
The Alliance for the Prudent
Use of Antibiotics (APUA) is a global organization dedicated to improving
antimicrobial use and containing drug resistance through research
and education. Founded in 1981 and located on the Tufts Medical School
Campus in Boston, APUA conducts its scientific and public health programs
in coordination with affiliated chapters in over 60 countries and
the leading national and international organizations.
Qualifications Post-Doctorate
or doctorate with specialty in molecular genetics and bioinformatics;
track record in grant development and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Working knowledge of systems biology, functional genomics, modeling,
supervisory experience, and infectious disease background helpful.
Responsibilities Manages
basic science grant projects and proposals. Manager of scientific
consortia and staff teams engaged in research and grant writing.
- Serves as PI or Co-PI
and science staff team leader on NIH grants
- Designs scientific/clinical
research objectives and methodologies
- Involves APUA's scientific
advisory board
- Analyzes genomic data
on antibiotic resistance elements
- Develops concepts
on the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance
- Manages scientific
network meetings and team projects
- Prepares and presents
reports and articles for peer review
- Prepares and oversees
grant proposals
- Represents organization
at national and international meetings concerning the genetics
of antibiotic resistance.
- Oversees specialized
project related consultants. e.g. programmers
The Manager for Bioinformatics
and Molecular Genetics reports to Executive Director and APUA scientific
advisors and oversees program staff. This position may be full or
part time contract position.
