CHALLENGES
AMR containment is a new agenda and many
people do not appreciate its importance, despite the potential
for a catastrophe. Therefore, it may take a long time to build
awareness among the general population.
APUA INTERNATIONAL
A mini-grant of $2,000 has been awarded
by APUA International to conduct a study "An Analysis of Antibiotic
Use Indicators in National Care Health Facilities and Pharmacies
Operating in the city of Lusaka, Zambia”. The project is ongoing
and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2005.
An AMR trainer is expected to visit the Zambia Chapter in early
September to conduct training in ‘Basic Research Methodology.’
Dr. Anibal Sosa visited Zambia in February
2005 to implement a country level AMR advocacy and containment
program in Zambia where he met with a number of key stakeholders.
