April 29 - May 1, 2004	27th Postgraduate Education Course of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases "Measuring, Auditing and Improving Antimicrobial Prescribing" Pruhonice, Czech Repulic Objectives of this course are identifying sources of data and understanding how to measure antimicrobial use in the community and in hospitals, selecting a proper measurement unit for antimicrobial consumption, making sense of antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance data, both locally and within a multicentre study or network, choosing and applying a method to study the relationship between antimicrobial prescribing and bacterial resistance, choosing and applying an audit methodology for monitoring the quality of antimicrobial prescriptions, and identifying possible interventions to improve antimicrobial prescribing, which could be implemented at the local or at the national level. November 2-3, 2002	The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sponsored Antibiotic Resistance Education Conference Sacramento, CA, USA The conference addresses the dilemma of inappropriate antibiotic use, providing best practice examples of working with physicians and diverse and underserved communities. The conference will share lessons learned in California to help other statewide education projects build a collaborative model. The conference addresses working with the Latino community, with Medicaid recipients, and the economic impacts associated with inappropriate antibiotic use.
